Alaska Historical Commission
On Monday April 24, there was a full house at the Alaska Historical Commission hearing in support of the 4th Avenue Theatre.  In fact, so many were there that there was only time for a portion of the 4th Avenue Theatre advocates to testify.  Lieutenant Governor Byron Mallott, who is also the chair of the Alaska Historical Commission, offered the opportunity to the public to continue to testify via the mail or online through May 8th.

These comments will have impact in this important next step for the 4th Avenue Theatre--to receive “monument” status!  Achieving this status can put the brakes on any immediate further risk to losing the 4th Avenue Theatre.

UPDATE 7/18/17
A meeting of the Commission to discuss their decision was held July 17, 2017 at the BP Energy Center in Anchorage.  The Commission voted unanimously that the building should be declared a historic monument, or historic site, for the state.  For what this means, please see KTUU story
